About Brenda de Jong-Pauley

Brenda de Jong-Pauley, MA, is the director and founder of The English Center, a private English training provider based in the Netherlands.

Originally from the United States, Brenda grew up in a business family and later worked in an international business environment before moving into the field of language training and communication coaching. These experiences gave her an early appreciation for the role communication plays in professional success, leadership, and relationship-building.

Brenda's academic background combines psychology, education, counseling, and the arts. As an undergraduate, she completed a double major that included studies in art, education, and mental health counseling. She later earned an MA in Psychology, where her studies included communication, influence, and human behavior.

Her interest in language was also shaped by her family. Brenda's mother was a poet, fostering an early appreciation for the power of words, storytelling, and self-expression. Today, that influence can still be seen in her interest in communication that is not only correct, but clear, persuasive, and meaningful.

In 2009, Brenda founded The English Center with a simple goal: to provide highly personalized English training for professionals. At a time when many language schools relied on standardized group courses and fixed curricula, she believed that effective training should be built around the learner's real communication challenges, professional goals, industry vocabulary, and working environment.

Since then, Brenda has worked with professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and international teams from a wide range of industries. Her work focuses on helping people communicate more effectively in English, particularly in high-stakes professional situations such as presentations, meetings, negotiations, interviews, leadership communication, and international collaboration.

Brenda specializes in business English, executive communication, pronunciation and accent training, spoken English development, and job interview coaching. Her approach combines language training, communication coaching, and practical workplace application. Drawing on her background in psychology, she is particularly interested in how language influences confidence, credibility, relationships, and professional outcomes.

The English Center today

Today, Brenda continues to guide The English Center's training philosophy, course development, and quality standards while working closely with a team of experienced native-speaker trainers. Together, they help professionals and organizations develop stronger English communication skills through private training, intensive courses, executive coaching, and in-company programs.

The English Center is CEDEO-recognized, CRKBO-registered, and trusted by professionals, companies, and public-sector organizations throughout the Netherlands and beyond. The organization is known for its personalized approach, native-speaker trainers, and focus on practical workplace communication.

In addition to training and coaching, Brenda writes regularly about business English, workplace communication, pronunciation, executive presence, intercultural communication, and the evolving relationship between language and artificial intelligence.
